Sound Bath with Tess (Fri 8th Nov & Fri 20th Dec at 6.30pm) 90 mins, £15 book via our bookings page
Our Sound Baths are a meditative experience that can help to manage anxiety and worries by soothing the nervous system with the vibrational power of sound harmony. Sound waves are created with healing instruments such as singing bowls, drums, chimes and gongs. These soundwaves harmonise the chakras and alter the brainwaves from normal waking state (beta) to relaxed state (alpha), dreamlike state (theta), and restorative state (delta). As we deeply relax our heart rate and blood pressure decrease. In this state deep healing can occur in mind and body.
Tess Beaumont,
I first experienced the incredible healing powers of sound a few years ago when, during a particularly stressful period, a friend offered me a gongbath which she thought might help me. During the session, tucked up and cosy under a blanket, I felt completely immersed in the wonderful, powerful sound of the gongs as they were gently played around me. I felt totally relaxed, but also lifted, energised and blissful. It was such a life-changing moment. Afterwards, I started to notice more and more how and where I was experiencing sound on every level, physically, emotionally and spiritually, and I found myself wanting to learn more about how to recreate that experience for others.
What I have learned since is that the sounds we hear and feel when certain instruments are played in a specific way over a certain period can put us into a deep meditative state. This can help us to feel calm, to feel soothed and to provide us with a greater sense of self-awareness and connection, both between our minds and bodies, but also to each other and the outside world.
I am very passionate about what I do, love anything that helps with well-being and am always encouraging people to be kind to themselves; a soundbath is just that - time out from busy lives to be bathed by the sounds and vibrations produced by instruments including gongs, drums, crystal bowls, Himalayan singing bowls, chimes and shakers. I look forward to sharing with others the warm, intense, deep and enriching sounds of these wonderful instruments.
I am a fully qualified Sound Therapist with a Practitioner Level Diploma in Sound Therapy after having completed my training with the British Academy of Sound Therapy (BAST), and am a registered member of the International Therapeutic Sound Association.
